The book I read is called Seekers: The Quest Begins by Erin Hunter.
Somewhere in the twinkling Stars lies a spirit of the bear…
Polar bear cubs Kallik & Taqqig have heard the story about the spirits in the stars several times from their mother Nisa. They learn how good seals taste & how to hunt them. When the three get separated after Nisa gets killed by orcas, Kallik decides to find Taqqig so they can travel together. But can Kallik survive on her own before she finds her brother or could this just lead to a result of death?
Meanwhile, grizzly cub Toklo and his mother Oka are on a quest to get to the river. Toklo’s brother Tobi is sick & he does not have long to live. A river is the only place which a grizzly bear’s spirit can join the stars or left in peace with other river spirits who have not join the stars yet. Without Toklo’s help, Tobi sadly dies & that leads to Oka abandoning Toklo!
A black bear cub named Lusa lives in a bear bowl at the Vancouver Zoo with her family. Then one day, Oka wanders into her home & tells Lusa the story about her abandoning Toklo & that she was upset of what she did. Lusa feels sorry for her & promises to find Toklo & tells him that Oka really does love him. When Oka dies after she gets shot by a rifle, Lusa escapes into the wilderness. But the wild is more dangerous than she expected with no family, unknown paths & other outrageous brown bears! Can Lusa find Toklo before she gets her life taken apart by predators?!
Fate is about to change all these bears lives forever.
My favourite part of the book was when Toklo finds & cures a mysterious shape–shifting cub named Urjurak. The same thing happened to him as it did to Oka, he got shot by a rifle from a hunter. I loved how Toklo rescued him instead of just leaving him to die because grizzlies are an endangered species.
I recommend that if u like journeys & quests made by animals, then u might like this book & want to read it!
